Street Ambassadors Walk the Capital
for the First Time
Street Ambassadors can now be seen on the streets of the Capital for the first time as part of a new €15m investment initiative from businesses in Dublin City Centre. The team of seven full-time professional staff are part of the new organisation called Dublin City Business Improvement District (BID) which was established to make the city centre Cleaner, Green and Safer through the delivery of a range of new additional services.
The BID Ambassadors patrol the 115 streets of the BID area identifying opportunities for improvements and assisting and welcoming visitors to the city centre. Other BID services and improvements include additional cleaning services, street repairs, flower boxes and planting, graffiti removal and capital improvements that enhance the enjoyable atmosphere of Dublin City Centre for the people who visit, work and live in our capital.
According to Denis Barry, Supervisor of the BID Street Ambassadors, “Our team of ambassadors is very proud to have an opportunity to work on helping to improve the standards of the streets of Dublin city. Spending a day walking the streets of the city is a great experience that most people don’t get. The characters you meet, the unique atmosphere and the buzz about the place is fantastic. We are working very closely with businesses and in partnership with Dublin City Council and Gardai in making the city a Cleaner, Greener and Safer place to be for all.”
The Dublin City Business Improvement District was established earlier this year in the Dublin 1 and Dublin 2 area to help create a world-class city environment.
Predominately a US concept, there are now 400 Business Improvement Districts established around the world but the Dublin City BID is the first in Ireland. Other examples include Times Square BID and The Fashion District BID in New York.
The Dublin City BID area is from Parnell St to Stephen’s Green and South Great Georges St to Talbot St. For more information on the Dublin City BID please log onto: www.dublincitybid.ie or call 01-6334680.
