Dublin City BID Supports New Litter Campaign

Campaign Tells Smokers to ‘Get Your Butt in Here’

The Dublin City BID is supporting a new litter awareness campaign which aims to make smokers aware of the important role they can play in a cleaner Dublin by reminding them that ‘Butts are Rubbish. Bin Them’. Cigarette butts currently account for half of the litter on Dublin City Streets.

The campaign, which is being spearheaded by Dublin City Council, sees 150 specially wrapped bins which remind smokers to dispose of their cigarette litter properly. The bins are placed outside cigarette litter black spots including cinemas, public transport stops and pubs. Outdoor and print adverts will also be used to remind smokers to ‘Mind Where You Put Your Butt’.

Along with the Dublin City BID the campaign is being supported by the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government and Fàilte Ireland.

We want to encourage smokers to dispose of their cigarette butts correctly as we all stand to gain if we think twice about cigarette disposal and use one of the many on street bins provided.
