In November and early December we brought FREE entertainment for Children to the City Centre with a host of Free Puppet Shows and Story Telling Sessions as part of our BIDs for KIDs Winter Programme. The puppet shows and story telling sessions took place each weekend in a number of city centre locations including Powerscourt Town House Shopping Centre, Ilac Shopping Centre, St Stephens Green Shopping Centre and Jervis Shopping Centre. They were hugely successful with a full house for almost every show and story telling session and over 1,200 children attended over the course of the initiative.
Each weekend, Conor Lambert’s Custard Pie Puppet Company entertained and created a drama with live interactive puppet shows in the Ilac and St Stephens Green Shopping Centres while Storyteller Susie Minto took children on magical, mysterious and mythical journeys to other lands and times with her Christmas and Winter themed stories in the Powerscourt and Jervis Shopping Centres.
‘Our cubs really enjoyed the puppet show, while I thought it might have been a little young for them, they really entered into the spirit of it. The cubs have been busily telling their friends, and the other cub packs, about the show so it was obviously a big hit! I think it is a fantastic initiative, there was a full house for the show we attended and everyone enjoyed it” said Christine Ellis of Knocklyon Cub pack, who brought 30 Cub scouts to the Stephen’s Green Puppet Shows.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who came along and supported our 'BIDs for KIDs' Winter Programme. We hope that you thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment and will continue to support future BIDs for KIDs initiatives.
