Miriam O’Callaghan Lights Up Henry St at The Big Switch Ceremony
On Sunday, 15th November Dublin’s Henry Street was transformed into a shimmering, shining winter wonderland with the switching on of the first festive lights in the capital by RTE presenter Miriam O’Callaghan on behalf of the ISPCC. Miriam was joined by Jamie, her three year old son for the official Big Switch ceremony.
The LED energy efficient lights which stretch 1.5km from Amiens Street to Capel Street, have been provided by the Dublin City Business Improvement District (BID) in partnership with the retailers, restaurants and businesses on Henry Street. This year as part of the big switch Bord Gáis Energy are supplying the electricity for the entire display. The magnificent lights have been created by 2B Light Company.

Earlier in the day in the Ilac and Jervis Shopping Centres Miriam O’Callaghan captivated a young audience with storytelling to launch BIDs for KIDs Christmas programme of activity. A magical family fun day was organised for the Henry Street shoppers throughout the day with festivities starting at 11.00am, with storyteller Susie Minto in the Jervis Shopping Centre and Conor Lambert’s Custard Pie Puppet Company entertaining with live interactive puppet shows in the Ilac Shopping Centre; both part of the BIDs for KIDs Winter Programme.
